About this event
The 2021 Mexican documentary ‘Tolvanera’ presents the violent legal and political struggles of a small community in Sonora, Mexico, against an exploitative mining company.
This screening and discussion has been organized on the request of activists and community members in Sonora, to raise awareness in the UK of the illegal action and human rights abuses around the mine, ahead of the annual shareholders meeting of the mining company, which will take place in London in May 2022.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director, Angel Melgoza.
Come along to the Gregson’s Secret Cinema to find out more about the situation in Mexico, how this links to the London Stock Exchange, and what you can do to help.
The film is in Spanish with English subtitles. The screening is free with optional donation on the day. Any donations beyond the cost of the screening will be transferred to support the struggle in Mexico.
